The ACETIE was initiated in 2018 by political, business, and academic leaders from both countries. It aims to leverage the implementation of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to promote and develop bilateral economic and trade relations, serving the interests of businesses and the well-being of people in both nations. Supported by government trade departments and enthusiastically participated in by the business communities of both countries, the Expo has become the most influential business platform between Australia and China.

The Expo has received strong participation from enterprises and institutions in both countries, attracting hundreds of prominent figures from politics, business, and academia to deliver keynote speeches. Thousands of attendees have taken part, and major media outlets from both Australia and China have covered the event extensively.

Over the years, the ACETIE has gained official support from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Australia Office, and the Victorian Government. It is also co-hosted with the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) and the China Chamber of Commerce in Australia (CCCA). Established in 1973, ACBC has branches in major Australian cities and serves as one of the Australian government’s key business advisors, making it the most authoritative institution in Australia-China economic and trade cooperation. CCCA, founded in 2006, is a union of Chinese-funded enterprises in Australia, with members across various industries throughout the country.

The Expo’s organizing committee is chaired by The Hon. Andrew Robb AO, former Australian Minister for Trade and Investment. Mr. Robb played a crucial role in negotiating and finalizing Australia’s free trade agreements with China, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, significantly advancing Australia-China economic and trade relations.

Theme of the 2025 ACETIE

The theme of the 2025 ACETIE is: "New-Quality Productivity for a Brighter Future: Building the South Pacific Hub of Innovation." The event will focus on new-quality productivity, covering emerging industries such as high technology and artificial intelligence, green energy and new energy vehicles, new materials, and advanced manufacturing processes. Additionally, it will include key sectors in bilateral consumer markets, such as agriculture and wine, healthcare and aged care, construction materials and machinery, as well as culture and tourism.

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which has significantly contributed to the prosperity of economic and trade relations between the two nations. As a key figure in signing this agreement, Expo Chairman Andrew Robb has incorporated this milestone into the event. The Expo will feature a series of celebratory activities, including commemorative events, expert forums, and physical exhibitions, injecting even greater energy and influence into the 2025 Expo. With new opportunities, trending topics, and high engagement, the Expo promises a rewarding experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.

To achieve this vision, the organizing committee has conducted multiple business delegations to China, engaging with key political and business figures to assess market needs, which has been met with strong enthusiasm from Chinese counterparts. High-quality Chinese products and renowned brands will be showcased at the 2025 Expo. The ACBC and CCCA have also convened joint meetings with major business groups to align the Australian market with exhibitors, ensuring seamless networking and matching services. The 2025 Expo will introduce a "2:1 Matching Service," where every international exhibitor will be paired with at least two local business partners.

Innovative “3+90” Post-Expo Service Model

The 2025 Expo introduces an innovative "3+90" post-expo service model, offering 90 days of extended exhibition services free of charge. A long-term exhibition center will be set up at the World Trade Centre, directly opposite the convention center, to provide post-expo one-stop services. These include booth management, long-term product displays, comprehensive promotions, and market connections, bridging the gap between showcased brands and real market opportunities. This initiative aims to facilitate Chinese enterprises expanding into Australia, promote Australian products in international markets, and enhance exhibitors' practical business outcomes.
